Understanding Kratom Veins

Kratom Veins

The kratom market is booming. You can find shops dedicated to kratom products readily online and in your neighborhood. With so many shops and so many varied products on the market, some individuals may find it hard to differentiate between the different kratom vein strains. To better understand which kratom vein type is right for you, it is important to understand kratom’s history.

In this guide, we will discuss kratom’s history and what to expect from the various kinds of kratom veins.

Kratom’s History

You may have heard of kratom, but are you familiar with its origins? Kratom commonly refers to the products that are derived from the dried leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa trees. These trees are native to Southeast Asia (e.g. Thailand, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia), and are classified as part of the coffee tree family. In the regions where the trees originate, kratom has been used as a wellness supplement since the 19th century.

Kratom has a high alkaloid content, which is believed to be responsible for the well-being some users feel from taking the substance. Mitragynine, the primary alkaloid present within kratom, makes up approximately 66% of the alkaloid content found in these products.

This is commonly held to be the key ingredient necessary for the support kratom can provide. Once you are aware of kratom’s history, it’s important to determine the right kratom veins for you. You may not be able to immediately spot a difference when you’re scrolling through your options, but there are key distinctions between each of the kratom veins.

The majority of kratom strain products are named based on the color of the vein in the kratom leaf. Most accredited kratom retailers offer red kratom strain, green kratom strain, and white kratom strain products. In addition to these three types of kratom, there is also the yellow, or gold, kratom strain, which is considered to be rarer than the other three types of kratom veins.

Types of Kratom Veins

If you’re new to kratom or haven’t done much research, you may hear these colors of kratom veins and not understand what role they play in your kratom experience. Here is a break down of the types of kratom veins and their history.

Red Vein Kratom

The leaves found in red vein kratom strains are harvested from the Mitragyna speciosa trees when they are very mature. The maturity of these kratom leaves may be responsible for their higher alkaloid content, which can make products they are used in more potent. Additionally, red vein kratom can be grown in a multitude of climates, ranging from dry and arid areas to humid regions.

Green Vein Kratom

Found mid-way through the maturity cycle of the kratom leaves, green vein kratom strains offer users a sweet spot between the intensity of the red vein kratom strains and the relatively-subtle white vein kratom strains. Green vein kratom is also fairly common and easy to procure, which makes it a popular choice for retailers and customers alike.

White Vein Kratom

White vein kratom strains may offer kratom users a milder option for their needs. The leaves found in white vein kratom are harvested early on in the kratom leaves’ life cycle, while their veins are still pale and white. Some individuals have reported an overall balance when they have taken products that use white kratom veins.

Yellow Vein Kratom

By far the rarest kind of kratom vein available, yellow vein kratom strains are unique. It is unclear where and how yellow vein kratom originated in the wild. Within the kratom community, it is not agreed upon whether this vein color is even present within the kratom leaves’ lifespan. One popular way to find yellow vein kratom, however, is by creating a blend of the other colors of kratom to yield the gold kratom strain. Because yellow/gold kratom vein products can be created using the other colors of kratom strains, these products are oftentimes balanced and can help promote wellness.

Finding the Right Kratom Veins

When you look through kratom products online or in person, you’ll likely find a huge selection to choose from. Many of the products available for purchase will have highly specific names. Oftentimes, these names will refer not only to the strain’s kratom vein color but to the region it was harvested, as well. A popular example of this phenomenon is the red Bali kratom strain. Red Bali kratom is believed to be one of the most potent types of kratom on the market, and users who intend to consume red Bali kratom products should seek the advice of their general practitioner.

Taking Kratom

Kratom is a very popular herbal supplement. It is believed to promote wellness overall for users. There are many different ways to consume kratom. Some kratom users choose to take their preferred kratom vein strain products in pill or capsule form. Others may decide to take kratom with water and attempt the “toss and wash” method of intake.

Taking kratom with black or herbal tea and a little bit of sweetener (e.g. honey or sugar) may also be a good choice for those looking to mask kratom’s naturally bitter flavor. Other popular choices for kratom consumption include taking it with kefir, protein shakes, or combating kratom’s taste with fruit juices, such as grapefruit or orange juice.
